Hims vs MANUAL UK: hair-loss services compared
Compare how Hims and MANUAL handle online assessment, delivery, recurring orders, cancellation and support. A source-led guide to practical service differences, without ranking medicines or claiming personal treatment experience.

Consultation and prescription approval
Hims: an online medical intake covers health history, medicines and eligibility; photographs or follow-up information may be required. A clinician reviews the information and decides whether to authorise a prescription. A quiz or plan suggestion is not itself a clinical decision, and dispensing requires the relevant pharmacy checks.
MANUAL: a clinician reviews the medical answers before accepting a prescription plan. Its terms say payment is not taken until the plan is accepted and the prescription issued. If more information is requested and no reply is received within 10 days of the order, the terms say the order is declined without charge. Assessment does not guarantee prescribing.
Delivery: approval, dispatch and arrival are different
Hims: its official order guide describes typical arrival of an approved first order in 2–3 business days after completion. The hair-loss service advertises free delivery, while its terms say costs are displayed on the website. Confirm the chosen plan's delivery fee and availability rather than assuming every Hims order is free.
MANUAL: the checked hair-plan page advertises free next-day delivery. Its terms separately say an accepted prescription order is dispensed and dispatched the same or next working day, with the estimated arrival date supplied during ordering. Next-day dispatch is not guaranteed next-day arrival; follow-up questions and pharmacy approval can add time.

Subscriptions and renewal billing — an important MANUAL caveat
Hims: its UK subscription FAQ lists monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual frequencies where available. The selected plan determines recurring processing and shipping. The terms describe payment on or around the subscription-period date using the saved payment method. Check the actual full charge and supply period; do not assume every displayed monthly equivalent is charged monthly.
MANUAL: the current hair-plan page displays delivery every three or six months and says 'Cancel or pause anytime'. The linked live Terms of Sale instead describe at least a 12-month medicine-supply agreement and monthly charging for prescription-only plans. These official statements do not align cleanly on commitment and payment cadence.
We have not resolved that conflict through an account checkout or written confirmation. Do not interpret MANUAL's delivery interval as its billing interval, or 'cancel anytime' as proof of no minimum commitment. Before joining, ask MANUAL to confirm the exact up-front charge, regular renewal amount, minimum term and cancellation effect for your selected plan in writing.

Cancellation and pause deadlines
Hims: its help centre asks for cancellation or alteration requests at least 48 hours before the next order-processing date, using Care Portal Messaging to Account Support. The terms say a change within 48 hours of the billing date can still trigger payment for the next delivery. A dispatched shipment is not automatically refundable.
MANUAL: its terms say subscriptions can be cancelled on notice, with no further charge or dispatch once receipt is confirmed; dispatched medicines are not refunded. The visible hair-plan page says cancel or pause anytime but does not give a precise deadline. The public help articles required sign-in when checked, so no cutoff is invented here. Clarify the plan-specific notice period and any minimum-term implications before relying on it.
Account help versus clinical support
Hims: account holders can use Care Portal Messaging, directing order and subscription queries to Account Support and medical questions to the clinical team. Its UK help centre lists support@forhims.co.uk for people without an account. Response times are not guaranteed by this comparison.
MANUAL: the checked hair-plan page lists help@manual.co and says it aims to reply within 24 hours. For treatment and side-effect questions it gives 020 4538 8411, option 3, Monday–Friday 09:00–17:00, to speak with a clinician. An aim to respond is not an emergency service; urgent symptoms require appropriate medical help.
How to compare Hims and MANUAL fairly
Match the service scope and supply duration, then record the complete first payment, regular renewal, delivery, consultation charges, required follow-up and cancellation deadline. A welcome discount should not be counted as the price of every renewal. No validated Hims or MANUAL voucher is deducted here, and no compounded or prescription product is promoted as a winner.
Neither company is declared 'best' by this page. The comparison evaluates public processes and commercial terms, not clinical outcomes, customer reviews or suitability. We have not opened an account, submitted health data, tested checkout, or confirmed affiliate participation. Ask a clinician about treatment and the provider about the contract.
Suitability and product information
Hair loss has different causes. NHS advice is to see a GP to establish the cause before considering a commercial hair clinic. The men's products recorded here have product-specific age limits: Sons 5% solution is labelled for men aged 18–65, and Regaine for Men foam for men aged 18–49. They are not women's products. Always read the label and accompanying leaflet; ask a pharmacist or doctor about suitability, scalp conditions, heart or circulation problems, other medicines and side effects. This is price and service research, not a diagnosis or prescribing advice.

Common questions
Is Hims or MANUAL better for hair-loss results?
This page does not rank medicines or clinical outcomes. Suitable treatment depends on an individual assessment. We compare published service processes and contract details, not effectiveness or personal results.
Can I cancel Hims immediately before renewal?
Hims asks for at least 48 hours before the next order-processing date. Its terms warn that changes close to billing may still result in payment for the next delivery. Check your actual account processing date.
Does MANUAL have a minimum commitment?
The checked hair-plan page says cancel/pause anytime and offers three- or six-month delivery, but the linked prescription-plan terms describe a 12-month supply agreement and monthly charging. We cannot resolve that mismatch from public pages; obtain the terms applying to your chosen plan in writing.
Are delivery headlines a guarantee?
No. Clinical follow-up, approval, dispensing, dispatch and courier arrival are distinct steps. Verify the chosen plan, delivery fee and estimated date at the provider.
